Decorex 2022 Round-Up

A key date in the autumn calendar and one we always enjoy attending is Decorex London. It’s always a great day with the team and as well as all the inspiration we gather it’s a great time to catch up with suppliers and meet with new ones, not to mention catching up with other designers!

A variety of earth-coloured tones were evident alongside some bolder colours. We saw browns and terracotta with sandy tones that are reminiscent of the seventies colour pallet but re-invented with a twist. This year comfort and relaxation were key with enveloping contours, which we saw as a reoccurring feature alongside bold colours, especially in a more simple design with block prints and they gave a hand-drawn feel to fabrics and wallpaper design.

Sustainability is such a strong influence in the interiors industry and its really coming into its own now, designers really want to see more provenance in materials. It was obvious that locally sourced items are at the forefront of everyone’s minds, with many creatives working in their own studios and manufacturing in a smaller more bespoke way that is encouraging new talent to be more visible.

Coat Paints

We had a wonderful time getting inspired with Dexter and the team from Coat paints alongside seeing the whole collection on their beautiful stand. It’s no secret that their paints are becoming a staple in the design world and the array of colours they offer is outstanding not to mention their B-Corp accreditation for their water-based formula and recyclable tins all made in a single UK location!

Design Concrete

Design Concrete has an amazing product that gives a concrete uneven texture, perfect for giving a natural artisan finish to projects. It’s the perfect material for setting the tone in a Wabbi Sabbi style project or pairing it with luxury items to offset sleek and elegant elements.

Domkapa

The soft lines of the Domkapa collection were stunning, the piece that caught our eye was the Chloe sofa, with its striking yet comfortable feel. It’s a beautifully constructed collection that is really easy to use and the team were really helpful with the many questions we asked. The stitch detail on the Grant pouffe was such a simple detail that was really impactful creating the all-important sleek and elegant lines.

Olivia Walker Ceramics

You may have seen it all over Instagram but, the sculptures and artwork exhibited by Olivia were remarkable and along with everyone else we were blown away by the beauty and intricate detail applied to each individual piece. Understated and bold seems such a contradiction but this is exactly what the pieces displayed. She works from her studio on Dartmoor where she makes the initial form and then deconstructs this to add shards of porcelain.
